Shooting in Technicolor

Tried experimenting with Technicolor today.

Technicolor was a way of making color movies from black and white film. They would expose three different film rolls through red, green, and blue filters, then dye them with cyan, magenta, and yellow and combine them. The result was color films, like The Wizard of Oz.

This photo was taken on digital with black and white JPEGs through color filters.

It’s not perfect but it was a cool experiment. Now I really want to try it with actual film.

Check out these videos for a little more information on the Technicolor process.
